VSR Research Presented at the ACM Web Conference 2026 SemTech Workshop

Our team member Sandra Schaftner successfully presented two research papers at the SemTech Workshop during The ACM Web Conference 2026. As one of the world’s premier forums for Web research – regularly attracting over 1,000 international participants – the conference provided an excellent platform to share VSR’s latest findings in LLM-driven knowledge graph construction and ontology refinement.

The two papers presented in the workshop sessions were “The LOPE Method: Improving Consistent Property Extraction for Scientific Knowledge Graphs Using LLMs” and “ORKG Properties Ontology Consolidated: LLM-Driven Refinement of Crowdsourced Knowledge for Machine-Actionability”.

Originally scheduled as an in-person event in Dubai, the conference faced significant geopolitical uncertainties in the region earlier this year. As a result, the organizers initially postponed the conference before transitioning it entirely to a virtual online format.

While virtual conferences often lack the spontaneous interactions of on-site events, the VSR team turned the situation into an enjoyable team experience. The team gathered in the office for collective “public viewing” sessions to follow the morning keynote presentations together on the big screen. This collaborative approach transformed a challenging virtual setup into an engaging team event, showcasing how adaptability can bring positive momentum to academic routines.
