Description
Education is a field which can benefit from technological progress. Because of time and resource limits, instructors have a challenging time managing large classrooms and giving each student individual attention. This can lead to students struggling with understanding the content from lectures or tutorials in-depth. Traditional e-learning platforms on the other hand do not offer personalized help or real-time interaction, which shows benefit in the education process. This thesis addresses this gap by using LLMs to create an AI-driven personalized learning assistant, which can be configured by the teachers and provides students help in repeating and deepening their knowledge.
The thesis aims to bridge this gap by conceptualizing and developing an on-demand learning application featuring an integrated AI teaching assistant to enhance interactive learning experiences. This adaptive system will assist students by providing user-friendly interfaces available 24/7. The system has to be easy to configure for teaching personnel, as well as effective in providing students with relevant information. Appropriate qualitative or quantitative evaluations will provide insights into the usability of this prototype.
The objective of this thesis is the creation of a solution or the combination of existing approaches to solve the problem of helping students with a personal AI teaching assistant as described above. This comprises the following parts. An analysis of the state of the art of already known technical teaching assistants, the role of AI in education, LLM technologies, and other relevant work. A demonstration of the solution should present a prototypical platform with which the AI teaching assistant can be configured and used. A suitable evaluation on its usability with students and lecturers, as well as the compliance with elicited requirements based on the literature research should be conducted.
