Description

W3C widgets are packaged client-side Web applications implemented using standard Web technologies. Usually they are embedded into other Web applications and provide some specific often limited functionality. To increase the target audience and to improve the usability of the provided functionality, widgets can be often personalized according to user preferences and habits. Currently, there is little tool support for implementation of personalization functionality, i.e. development of personalizable widgets is time-consuming.

The project should analyze, which personalization concepts are currently in use for widgets and applications on the Web in general. A concept for generic personalization infrastructure, which would take peculiarities of W3C widgets into account, should be derived. Finally, a small prototype demonstrating the concept should be implemented.
