Description

The Across Alliance is a European cooperation of nine partner universities, with the goal of creating a "European University for Cross-Border Knowledge Sharing". Task Team 2.1 is responsible for developing the "Across border campus system," which includes the central eCampus platform. This platform aims to provide a unified user experience for students, staff, and lifelong learners across different universities. A core aspect of a successful platform is a deep understanding of its users and their specific needs, challenges, and goals. User Journeys are a powerful tool for this, as they map out the user's experience with a product or service from start to finish. They provide insights into the emotional state of the user at each step, helping to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

This practical course or project investigates the User Journeys of potential future Across eCampus users from different target groups, such as students and staff. The objective is to create a detailed and insightful analysis of these journeys. Based on a set of interviews, the student will create different visualizations of the User Journeys, such as User Journey Maps with Emotion Curves or detailed tables. Building upon these visualizations, the student will apply established methods from Requirements Engineering to describe the Use Cases of the eCampus. The work requires a solid conceptual foundation in user experience (UX) and User Journey mapping, as well as the ability to conduct and analyze interviews. The results will serve as a crucial basis for the specification and development of the Across eCampus.

The objective of this practical course or project is the combination of existing approaches to solve the problem of analyzing and visualizing User Journeys of Across Alliance users through a set of interview-based maps and tables as described above. This comprises the selection of suitable User Journey mapping and related UX methodologies as well as the demonstration of the solution by providing a concrete set of User Journey visualizations and Use Case descriptions based on interviews with the identified target groups. A suitable evaluation based on a qualitative review and feedback from members of Task Team 2.1 is expected.
