Description

Web-based testbeds are online platforms designed for testing and evaluating software, hardware, and other technologies in a simulated environment that mimics real-world conditions. They're important for research and development, offering a space where scientists and developers can collaborate and test their work efficiently across different areas such as web apps and IoT (Internet of Things). Despite their importance, some testbeds face challenges like the need for manual creation of test scenarios and the absence of automated test execution, which slows down the process and increases the likelihood of errors. This thesis proposes enhancements to the web-based testbed framework to make it more user-friendly and automated. By enabling users to easily specify test parameters and automating the creation and execution of test scenarios, the aim is to expedite the testing process, reduce errors, and allow researchers to concentrate more on result analysis for faster and more accurate development outcomes.

We aim to enhance the effectiveness of web-based test frameworks by integrating automation for the creation and running of test scenarios. This approach is geared towards streamlining both scalability and accuracy assessments, making the testing process more seamless and ensuring a more dependable and swift evaluation of the performance and trustworthiness of web applications.

The aim of this thesis is to develop and implement an approach for web-based testbed framework by automating the generation and execution of test scenarios through a user interface, enabling expert users to effortlessly conduct evaluations. This improvement is anticipated to increase efficiency for researchers and engineers by simplifying the repetitive aspects of testing and analysis in web-based testbed systems. This team thesis focuses on accuracy and scalability evaluations for trust models on the re-decentralized web.

The objective of this master's thesis is to find an approach or combination of approaches to solve the previously mentioned problem in the context of automated creation of configuration files in web-based testbeds. This particularly includes the state of the art regarding web-based testbeds and their configurations. The demonstration of feasibility with an implementation demonstrator of the concept is part of this thesis as well as a suitable evaluation with exemplary use cases.
