OGLSprings bases on the famous xspringies program by Douglas M. DeCarlo (dmd@gradient.cis.upenn.edu) but unfortunately it hasn't all of its functionality. You can create a spring - mass - system and the program shows how it behaves. You can change the masses and spring values to change the behaviour of the spring - mass - system.
Sorry! You need a hardware accelerated OpenGL driver as http://www.nvidia.com/Products.nsf/htmlmedia/software_drivers.html to use this program reasonably. Otherwise the speed is too small :-((.
The main new feature is the 3 dimensional room performed by OpenGL. Furthermore it has a Tcl/Tk interface.
Unfortunately there is no edit mode :-(( (it will be!) but
Version 1.x has an edit mode. So you can create a spring mass system interactively. Furthermore
you can save and reload the created scenes. OGLSprings accepts a similarly file format
as xspringies. The 2 main differences are:
mast followed by
the X/Z coordinate and the height of a mast. (See bsp.xsp)
Download oglsprings-1.4.tgz
and follow the instructions in README file.
